That is the basic.

What to do

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to cook the creamy and tasty Alfredo sauce:

Step #1: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Make sure that the butter will not brown otherwise it will have a slightly bitter flavor.

Step #2: When the butter has completely melted, sauté the garlic until its flavor comes out and mix in with the butter.

Step #3: Pour the heavy cream and simmer for at five minutes.

Step #4: Add Parmesan cheese. Remember to set aside some for garnishing. Whisk the mixture until the cheese melts. Some find that Parmesan cheese does not melt well so they substitute it with another variety. You may also do that. You can use Gruyere cheese or another to replace Parmesan. However, remember that Parmesan has a slightly strong flavor that you will need to provide body to your sauce. If you will use another cheese as a substitute, make sure that it has a similar flavor so as not to lose the idea altogether.

Step #5: Pour over the sauce to pre-cooked pasta, garnish with cheese and parsley then it is ready to serve. The amount of mixture from this Alfredo sauce recipe may be used to about eight ounces of fettuccine or angel hair pasta.
